Center for Media Literacy of Fudan University was established in 2006. Ever since, we have been striving to promote the researches about theories of media literacy, transfer the academic endeavors into practice and provide consulting service for the government in terms of the decision making. Media Literacy assumes an import role in the public education (especially for minors), the objective of which is to foster people’s critical thinking of mediated messages so as to reduce the harmfulness of detrimental information and encourage them to use mass media for their development and socialization in a positive way. Since this research is still nascent in the Chinese mainland, it calls for more attention and further investigation. As one of the pioneers in this field in China, Center for Media Literacy of Fudan University has undertaken a number of programs and achieved remarkable fruits, such as “the Research of Theories and Practices of Media Literacy”, the key project of philosophy and social science of Chinese Ministry of Education. Please feel free to contact us and our website is www.medialiteracy.org.cn.
